Rubanda District Council Approves UGX 42 Billion Budget for 2024/25 Financial Year

RUBANDA: Rubanda District Council has approved the budget estimates for the 2024/25 Financial Year, totaling UGX 42,063,283,566 (Forty-two billion sixty-three million two hundred eighty-three thousand five hundred sixty-six shillings).

The motion to table the budget estimates was moved by the Secretary for Finance, Planning, Works, and Administration, Vincent Turihabwe, on behalf of the District Chairperson, Stephen Ampeire Kasyaba. The council unanimously approved the motion.

Kasyaba noted that the budget estimates reflect the district’s commitment to prioritizing core programs essential for transforming the district towards middle-income status. He added that the 2024/25 budget estimates represent a 2.2% increase, amounting to UGX 1 billion from the previous year’s UGX 41,156,635,961 (Forty-one billion one hundred fifty-six million six hundred thirty-five thousand nine hundred sixty-one shillings).

The sources of funding for the next financial year’s budget include:

Local revenue: UGX 691,311,000

Discretionary grant: UGX 25,067,872,000

Conditional grant: UGX 12,687,291,000

Other government transfers: UGX 2,467,474,566

External financing: UGX 1,149,334,000

The expenditures are categorized as follows:

Wage (Recurrent): UGX 23,948,583,000

Non-wage (Recurrent): UGX 10,198,963,000

Development expenditure: UGX 7,249,506,000

Kasyaba stated that the priorities for the 2024/25 budget would be education, health, infrastructure development, and wealth creation programs. He attributed the budget increase to the efforts and support of Henry Musasizi, Minister of Finance (General Duties), who allocated additional funding to the district.
