Tragedy has rocked the quiet community of Kizinga A in Kyamakanda Ward, Buyanja Sub-county, Rukungiri District, after a 50-year-old woman was discovered dead under suspicious circumstances, sparking fears of foul play linked to a recent land transaction.
The deceased, Evalyne Mbabazi, wife to Robert Muramuzi White, was reported missing on Sunday evening at around 8:00 PM.
Her body was found early Monday morning, June 23, by a resident identified as Nkohe Justus, who stumbled upon it near a local road commonly known as White Close or White Road while on his way to the garden.
Buyanja Sub-county Gomborora Internal Security Officer (GISO), Isaac Bitwire, told our reporter at the scene that preliminary findings suggest Mbabazi may have been murdered.
Authorities are probing a possible link to money she had received from selling land allegedly owned by her daughter, who currently resides abroad.
There are also unconfirmed suspicions of sexual violence involved in the incident, though police investigations remain ongoing.
Mbabazi’s body was transferred to Rwakabengo Health Centre III for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
One suspect is currently in custody at Buyanja Police Station to assist with investigations. By press time, police had not yet issued an official statement.
The tragic incident has left residents in shock, with many calling for thorough investigations and justice for the late Mbabazi.
