John Michael Oceger, the clan chairperson of Igoriai-Ikarikaloto, stated that the clan made the decision to return Barbara to her parents to prevent potential violence and killings when their son, Oceger, returns.

Barbara admitted to eloping because she had feelings for George, but her husband was away.

George Okello, on the other hand, claimed he was unaware that Barbara was married.

When consulted by the clan head, Barbara’s husband, Oceger Godfrey, who works in Moroto, instructed the clan to return his wife to her parents.

However, some clan women, including Josephine Adeke, Rose Akiteng, and Jane Kongai, expressed their disappointment, urging other women to remain committed and loyal to their marital partners.

When Barbara and George were handed over to her in-laws, they were rejected, as the incident had brought shame to the family.
