RUBANDA – The Rubanda District Hopeful Member of Parliament, Ann Asiimwe’s generous donation of a 1.5 Million shillings Delivery bed to Bubare Health Centre 3 in Bubare sub county faced a frustrating setback when district authorities, under the orders of a political official, refusing to accept it.
Ann Asiimwe’s decision to donate the bed was prompted by the distressing revelation that the health facility had only one bed, despite serving a significant number of expectant mothers.
In her earnest effort to make the donation, Asiimwe diligently followed all the required procedures by writing to the office of district authorities, including the CAO, DHO, RDC, and LC5 Chairman.
However, today afternoon, Stephen Ampeire Kasyaba, the LC5 Chairman, declined to receive the bed. Instead, he chose to take an alternate route, walking from his office to Murore town via a footpath.
Ann Asiimwe found herself stranded at Rubanda district headquarters, as even LC5 Chairman Kasyaba opted not to preside over the team tasked with receiving the donation and similarly used the footpath to reach Murore town.
After enduring an hour of embarrassment, Ann Asiimwe had no choice but to transport the maternity bed back in a vehicle, left to wonder why a vital resource for expectant mothers had been rejected by those it was intended to help.
This unfortunate turn of events leaves the health facility with just one bed, as the generous donation remains unaccepted.
It’s worth noting that Ann Asiimwe previously served as the campaign manager for Minister Henry Musasizi Ariganyira who doubles as the Rubanda East County Member of Parliament during the 2021 polls in Kakore parish.
