BREAKING NEWS! Former Makindye West MP Hon. Hajji Hussein Kyanjo is dead.

KAMPALA – The former Member of Parliament for Makindye West county Hon. Hajji Hussein Kyanjo is dead.

He breathed his last in the early hours of this morning at Kibuli Hospital, after a prolonged battle with illness.

In a heartfelt eulogy, the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda, Rt Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, reminisced about their long-standing association.

Hon. Kyanjo had been a member of the 9th Parliament, representing Makindye West under the JEEMA ticket.

Tayebwa fondly recalled how he was introduced to the late Hon. Kyanjo by his senior brother, Hon. Asuman Basalirwa, during their tenure as student leaders at Makerere University in 2002.

Hon. Kyanjo’s legacy as an astute debater, whose eloquence could move mountains, was noted by Tayebwa. During his time in Parliament, his strong attribute of persuasive articulation benefited the legislative body greatly.

“He was vocal on issues of corruption, human rights, and good governance,” Tayebwa emphasized, highlighting Hon. Kyanjo’s dedication to addressing important societal concerns.

Throughout his illness, the late Hon. Kyanjo received tremendous support and care from those concerned about his welfare.

In his eulogy, Tayebwa extended his gratitude to all those who contributed to his wellbeing, expressing heartfelt condolences to the family, JEEMA party, and all Ugandans mourning the loss.

Rt Hon. Anita Annet Among, Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda  also eulogized Hajji Kyanjo, praising him as a leader who set the bar for legislative excellence.

She remembered him as a unifying figure who exhibited unwavering integrity during his tenure as a distinguished lawmaker.

“As the news of Hon. Hajji Hussein Kyanjo’s passing reaches the people of Makindye West, Kampala, and Uganda as a whole, we extend our deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un (Verily, we belong to Allah and verily to Him do we return). May his memory be a source of inspiration for generations to come”. Among Said.
