The Democratic Front Party has officially endorsed Mubarak Munyagwa, President of the Common Man’s Party, as its preferred candidate in the 2026 general presidential election.
Announcing the decision on Wednesday morning, Democratic Front leader Mathias Mpuuga said the endorsement followed thorough consultations and discussions among party leaders.
“After extensive internal deliberations, the Democratic Front resolved not to field a presidential candidate in the 2026 elections. Instead, we have chosen to support Mubarak Munyagwa, the President of the Common Man’s Party, as our candidate,” Mpuuga stated.
He urged party members and supporters to rally behind Munyagwa, emphasizing the need for unity and collective effort in shaping the country’s future.
“The Democratic Front encourages all its members and supporters to stand together in support of this decision. Together, we can work towards a stronger, more united future for our nation,” the statement read in part.
The party also advised its members against supporting other presidential contenders, including National Unity Platform leader Robert Kyagulanyi, commonly known as Bobi Wine.
