At least seven Mobondo militiamen were captured on the night of August 31 during a military operation by the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) in the village of Au Revoir along National Road 17 in Kwamouth territory, Kongo-Central province.

According to the army, five weapons of war, including an AK-47 rifle, were seized during the operation. The captured fighters were reportedly behind a recent attack on a truck traveling from Kinshasa to Twa village, during which passengers were kidnapped, tortured, and robbed of valuables, including mobile phones.

Captain Antony Mualushayi, spokesperson for Ngemba operations, said a combat patrol had been deployed from Kinsele village to secure the area and pursue other armed elements linked to the Mobondo militia.

The FARDC high command reminded its forces to uphold their mission of protecting the nation and its people while avoiding involvement in local intercommunal conflicts.
