The Chief of Defence Forces of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, was on Saturday evening hosted to a special dinner reception in Kinshasa by his counterpart, Lieutenant General Jules Banza Mwilambwe, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC).
The high-level event was attended by senior government and military officials, who expressed appreciation for Gen Kainerugaba’s visit and the continued cooperation between the two countries’ armed forces.
Guests were treated to a vibrant cultural performance featuring a live band playing popular Lingala music. Notably, several songs included lyrics composed in honor of Gen Kainerugaba, celebrating his visit and leadership.
The dinner came after a series of engagements during Gen Kainerugaba’s official visit to the DRC. Earlier in the day, he met with Gen Mwilambwe and other FARDC officials at their headquarters, where they reviewed the progress of the joint Operation Shujaa, a collaborative effort between Uganda and the DRC to combat armed groups in the eastern region of Congo.
Gen Kainerugaba had also held high-level talks with President Félix Tshisekedi at State House, focusing on strengthening bilateral security ties and regional cooperation.
