The NRM presidential flag bearer, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, will today, Saturday, October 11, 2025, resume his campaigns in West Nile, with major rallies scheduled in Nebbi and Zombo districts.
Local leaders have called on residents to turn up in large numbers to welcome the President and demonstrate their continued support for the ruling party.
State Minister for Mineral Development and Nebbi Woman MP flag bearer, Phiona Nyamutoro, confirmed that mobilization has been concluded from the grassroots, ensuring what she described as “a historic turnout.”
“We have just concluded a meeting with our sub-county NRM chairpersons and other opinion leaders to agree on the best mobilization strategy, especially regarding time management since the rally will take place in the morning,” Nyamutoro told journalists on Friday.
She said Nebbi’s rally would not just be political but “a celebration of President Museveni’s legacy.”
“In Nebbi, he’s not really coming to campaign. He’s coming to wave to his people and thank them for the overwhelming support they have always shown him,” she added.
Achievements Cited Ahead of Presidential Visit
Minister Nyamutoro outlined several achievements registered under the NRM government in Nebbi, noting that residents have “every reason to be grateful.”
- Ministerial Representation Restored: “For over 20 years, Nebbi had no minister, but today we are proudly represented in Cabinet,” she said.
- Electricity Connectivity: The President recently commissioned the Nebbi substation, officially linking West Nile to the national electricity grid.
- Road Infrastructure: The long-problematic Nebbi–Goli Road (16km) has been approved for upgrade.
- Industrialization Efforts: A proposed industrial park in Omvoro Village, Nyaravur Sub-county, has been prioritized for the next financial year.
“The light has been shown at the end of the tunnel. With the upcoming industrial park, agro-processing projects, and other developments, Nebbi will soon become a hub of empowerment in West Nile,” she said.
Nyamutoro further called for upgrading Nebbi General Hospital to a regional referral facility and for additional funding to public schools.
Leaders Promise Unprecedented Mobilization
Isaac Otimgiu, MP for Padyere County, said Nebbi is aiming to set a new national record in mobilization.
“We’ve been observing what other regions like Lango have done, but tomorrow, Nebbi will raise that bar even higher,” he declared.
According to him, mobilization has been conducted through:
- Parish Development Model structures
- Youth and women’s groups
- NRM grassroots networks
“People are mobilizing themselves; many have even pledged to attend without facilitation,” he emphasized.
Urban Transformation Underway
Otimgiu also noted that Nebbi is rapidly transforming into a modern town.
“Nebbi is the mother district to Pakwach and Zombo. While development previously seemed to favor those areas, we are now catching up,” he said.
He cited newly tarmacked roads within the municipality and ongoing upgrades on Nyee–Nebbi and Nebbi–Tuarua roads.
“These efforts will make Nebbi a model district in the region,” he concluded.
With excitement building ahead of the President’s arrival, Nebbi leaders say today’s event will serve not only as a campaign rally but as a declaration of loyalty and gratitude to the NRM leadership.
