The NRM Deputy Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Rose Namayanja Nsereko, has expressed confidence that the ruling party will register a decisive victory in the Local Council I (LC1) Chairperson elections following the completion of its grassroots mobilisation campaign across the Greater Masaka sub-region.
Speaking in Biwolobo Village, Lyantonde District, where she concluded her mobilisation tour as the NRM team leader for Greater Masaka on Monday, Namayanja thanked residents for their overwhelming support during the recently concluded Village Women Council elections.
She said the nationwide mobilisation exercise, which started on July 19, had strengthened the party’s grassroots structures and reaffirmed the NRM’s support base across the region.
According to Namayanja, 85 NRM LC1 Chairperson flag bearers in Lyantonde District have already been declared unopposed, a development she described as clear evidence of the party’s growing popularity and organisational strength at the village level.
“We are confident that tomorrow we shall register an overwhelming victory for our flag bearers still in the race. I thank the people of Greater Masaka and all Ugandans for their continued trust and belief in the NRM and its leadership,” she said.
She urged NRM leaders to intensify mobilisation efforts ahead of the polls and called on voters across the country to elect NRM candidates, saying strong village leadership is essential for effective service delivery and the successful implementation of government programmes, particularly the Parish Development Model (PDM).
Namayanja appealed to voters in the Central Region and across Uganda to turn out in large numbers and support NRM flag bearers, arguing that electing the party’s LC1 Chairpersons would strengthen grassroots governance and accelerate the implementation of government wealth creation initiatives.
Earlier in the day, Namayanja addressed a village baraza in Kimuli Village, Rwentulege Town Council, Rakai District, where she urged residents to vote for NRM candidates in the LC1 Chairperson elections, saying their election would promote continued development and prosperity in their communities.
