The Uganda Police Force has deployed 1,275 official contact phones to operational sub-county police stations across the country to enhance timely reporting and response to incidents.

The development was revealed by Police Spokesperson Rusoke Kituuma during the weekly press briefing held at Police Headquarters in Kampala.

Kituuma discouraged members of the public from directly contacting individual police officers they personally know when seeking assistance, noting that such practices can delay official response and weaken the force’s ability to act swiftly.

“All responsible citizens are urged to obtain and keep the official counter contact numbers for their respective areas—whether for residence, workplace, or business,” he said.

He also tasked Community Liaison Officers (CLOs) and Public Relations Officers (PROs) to actively promote the circulation and use of these contact numbers within the communities they serve.
