RUKUNGIRI: The North Ankole Diocesan Bishop, Rt. Rev. Alfred Muhoozi, has encouraged couples and young people intending to marry to prepare well in advance and endure in their marriages while placing their trust in God for a lasting union.
He made these remarks on Saturday while preaching at the giveaway ceremony (kuhingira) of Ruth Asiimwe, the daughter of Bishop Onesimus and Florence Asiimwe of North Kigezi Diocese. The event took place at Makobore High School premises in Kinyasano Ward, Western Division, Rukungiri Municipality.
Bishop Muhoozi advised Bruce Mugisha and his wife, Ruth Ariho Asiimwe, to build a marriage that glorifies God. He reminded them that they were both raised in God-fearing families and should continue to respect each other as they embark on this new chapter.
Bishop Onesimus and Maama Florence Asiimwe praised their daughter for being a God-fearing individual who has consistently respected her parents and served as a role model to many. They also encouraged her new family members to love and care for her diligently.
Hon. Major Gen. Jim Muhwezi, the Minister of Security, and his wife, Canon Susan Muhwezi, who are family friends, urged Ruth to place her trust in God for a successful marriage. They also reminded her not to disappoint the congregation that had gathered to witness her commitment to Bruce Mugisha.
Col. Edith Nakalema, the State House Investors Protection Unit Commander, and her husband encouraged the newly united couple to shine as they embark on their new journey. They emphasized the importance of prayer in achieving a successful marriage.
Bruce Mugisha, Ruth’s husband, is from Kikagate, Isingiro District. He is an employee of the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA). Ruth Ariho Asiimwe holds a bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management from Makerere University Business School, graduating in 2022. She previously worked with UNRA before securing a position at Compassion International.
The well-organized giveaway ceremony was graced by several high-profile guests, including Gen. Henry Tumukunde, Gen. Mugisha Muntu, the President of the Alliance for Transformation, Dr. Kizza Besigye, members of parliament from Rukungiri and beyond, religious leaders from various denominations, over five bishops from the Church of Uganda, the Rukungiri District Kadhi, and other notable government officials, educators, and Christians.
