Kabale Woman MP Urges Parents to Instill Christian Virtues in Children for Responsible Citizenship

KABALE – The kabale District Woman Member of Parliament Honorable Catherine Atwakiire Ndamira, has urged parents to instill Christian virtues in their children, fostering a sense of pride in their religion to nurture responsible citizens.

Addressing the audience at the Ordination ceremony held at the sacred grounds of Our Lady of Good Shepherd, Rushoroza Cathedral parish in Kabale Municipality, Hon. Atwakiire emphasized the importance of witnessing the Ordination of 16 deacons into the priesthood and 3 seminarians into the role of deacons as a testament to the church’s values.

She extended her heartfelt gratitude to the parents of the 16 newly ordained priests and 3 deacons for their dedicated parenthood, which played a vital role in bringing about this significant moment. Hon. Atwakiire also encouraged the newly ordained clergy members to embrace patience and exemplify virtuous lives during their service as God’s servants.

The Kabale Diocesan Bishop, Rt Rev Callist Rubaramira, presiding over the ceremony, charged the newly ordained priests and deacons with a call to prayerfulness, unwavering obedience to God, and wholehearted service. He reminded them of the commitment required in God’s ministry, urging them to passionately spread His good news and guide Christians on their spiritual journey.

During his homily, Reverend Father Placid Mugumya, the Chancellor and Bishop’s Secretary of Kabale Diocese, cautioned the ordained clergy against relying solely on human efforts to fulfill their divine responsibilities.

He emphasized the need for God’s guidance in their ministry and encouraged them to resist conforming to worldly standards that might compromise their Catholic identity. Instead, he challenged them to reach out to the marginalized in society and lead them to spiritual fulfillment.
