Football Fans Brutally Assault Assistant Referee

News – A group of suspected Express FC fans on Friday violently assaulted assistant referee Fahad Sekayiba following their one-all draw with UPDF FC at Bombo Military Barracks.

In the StarTimes Uganda Premier League showdown, Express aimed to secure all three points after Emmanuel Wasswa’s early goal, but UPDF FC equalized in the 80th minute through Bright Joseph Vuni.

Express fans, displeased with Sekayiba’s decisions, attacked and severely beat him, causing multiple injuries, including severe head injuries with blood streaming from his nose, mouth, and ears.

Post-match, the unruly fans went further by damaging the vehicle used by the match officials and their assessor.

These incidents of hooliganism are widely condemned as they not only discourage other fans from attending games but also pose serious life-threatening risks.
