KASESE: Women united under the Bukonzo County Widows Association in Kasese District have urged the government to assist them by providing skills training to boost their household economies.

The appeal was made during their commemoration of International Widows’ Day at Mpondwe Primary School in Mpondwe Lhubiriha town council last Sunday. Ms. Jeneva Koli, the group’s chairperson, highlighted the significant financial difficulties widows face, underscoring the need for skills training. She noted that their association boasts a membership of over one thousand fully registered members.

Ms. Evanisa Kabanyoro, a resident of Nyakatonzi and a member of the association, emphasized the challenges faced in caring for orphans as a single mother, stressing the necessity for support in managing school fees, food, and clothing.
