Police in Agago District are investigating the mysterious death of a 49-year-old woman, Anek Rose, a resident of Lajokena Central Village in Tenge Parish, Geregere Sub-county.
Her body was discovered a day after attending a political party celebration.
According to preliminary findings, Anek had attended a celebration on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at the home of Robert Odida, who had just secured the NRM party flag in the LC1 primaries.
Witnesses reported that at around 9:00 a.m., during the event, Anek suddenly lost consciousness while seated on a chair. She was left to rest, with those present hoping she would recover.
However, in a tragic turn of events, she was found dead the following day, Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at around midday.
Police have registered a case of sudden death at Omot Police Post. Statements have been recorded from several witnesses who attended the party.
The body was transported to Kalongo Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem examination and medical personnel have collected samples for toxicological analysis to determine whether poisoning or any other substance was involved.
No arrests have been made so far as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding Anek’s untimely death.
