Bukimbiri County Member of Parliament, Hon. Eddie Kwizera, has called on Kisoro Municipal authorities to shift their focus from the delayed Matip Market project and instead prioritize the delivery of essential services that directly enhance the livelihoods of local residents.

MP Kwizera made these remarks over the weekend during a feasibility study tour conducted with municipal authorities. The tour included visits to Gatimba Market, the New Park, and the Old Market, where he held discussions with a cross-section of vendors to better understand the challenges traders are facing across the municipality.

However, Vendors expressed concerns over poor working conditions, including operating in open spaces and the lack of adequate health facilities within the markets. Municipal authorities attributed some of these challenges to the stalled construction of Matip Market, which they said has hindered effective service delivery.

In response, MP Kwizera urged the authorities not to use the Matip Market delay as an excuse for inaction. He emphasized the importance of addressing the immediate issues affecting residents, regardless of the project’s status.

He further stressed the need for greater collaboration and cooperation among district leaders to improve service delivery across the municipality.
