The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party Electoral Commission will today (Tuesday) conduct elections in seven villages across Muramba, Nyarusiza, and Nyakinama sub-counties in Bufumbira South Constituency, Kisoro District.

These areas missed out on the initial NRM primary election for Member of Parliament flag bearer due to confusion, disorder, and disputes regarding voter eligibility and voting procedures.

NRM Kisoro District Electoral Chairperson, Mujambere Tadeo, issued a stern warning to residents against any acts of violence or misconduct during the repeat exercise. He emphasized the need for peace, discipline, and transparency, urging voters to allow the process to proceed smoothly so that the constituency can get a legitimate party flag bearer.

“We call upon all voters to remain peaceful. The results from these villages will be combined with those already received to determine the rightful NRM flag bearer,” Mujambere said, adding that any attempt to incite violence will lead to arrest, with heavy security deployment already in place.
