RUKIGA – Police in Rukiga District have arrested 62-year-old Mugisha Winnie and hunting her 28-year-old son, Tumukunde Onesmus, a secondary school teacher, for assaulting Benon Mbabazi, 63, the family head on Boxing Day.
The incident occurred in Nyamabare cell, Muhanga ward, Muhanga town council in Rukiga district .
According to the police statement, a quarrel ensued between Benon and his son at 9:00Am resulting in Onesmus assaulting his father with a stick while Winnie watched.
Later that evening, Benon, having sustained injuries, went to sleep and succumbed to them.
The police investigation revealed multiple bruises on the deceased’s neck, buttocks, chest, and abdomen, indicating strangulation.
The body was taken to Kabale Referral Hospital for postmortem, and Winnie was arrested, while Onesmus is currently on the run.
The body was handed over to relatives for a decent burial.
