Suspected Motorcycle Thief Killed by Mob in Kabale

KABALE: Police in Kabale is investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a 41 year old man.

 

The deceased has been identified as Lawrence Twesigye, a resident of Kanyamomo cell, southern division ward, Kambuga town council in Kanungu district who was murdered by mob along the Kabale Nyamweru road. This happened on Wednesday 5^th July, 2023 at 2:30PM

 

According to ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi police spokesperson,  It’s alleged that the deceased hired a boda boda from Kabale town at Sabena stage to Nyamweru in Rubanda district and on the way the rider stopped to urinate and when he went off, the deceased started the motor cycle and rode away.

 

The owner of the motor cycle made an alarm and a number of people joined him to follow the deceased and when he was found at Rwenkurinjo cell he was beaten and stubbed with a knife to death.

 

The homicide team together with the SOCO visited the scene of crime, sketch plan drawn. Photographs taken, no statement taken as there was nobody and body taken to the Kabale referral hospital mortuary for examination.

 

No arrest so far effected. Investigations are ongoing.
