The Kabale Diocese Pastoral Coordinator, Rev. Fr. Fidelis Ndagijimana, has called on Christians to reflect on their divine calling and deepen their relationship with God as they mark Good Shepherd Sunday.
Delivering his homily during the Second English Mass at Christ the King Parish, Fr. Ndagijimana emphasized that every Christian is called to live a life of witness through the vocation entrusted to them by God.
He noted that the day’s readings present Jesus Christ as the Good Shepherd who knows His followers personally, including their strengths and weaknesses. He urged believers to surrender their lives to Christ and seek to understand their purpose.
Fr. Ndagijimana encouraged Christians to build a personal relationship with Jesus through prayer, reading the Word of God, and embracing the teachings of the Church. He explained that such a relationship helps believers to discern Christ’s voice amid the many competing influences in today’s world.
He cautioned against distractions from social media and other cultural influences, noting that they often present conflicting “voices” that can mislead believers from their true calling.
Describing Christ as the “gate to salvation,” Fr. Ndagijimana said He guides and protects those who follow Him. He urged Christians to make firm and informed decisions rooted in faith.
He also outlined key vocations in the Church, including marriage, priesthood, religious life, and the dedicated single life, stressing the need for careful discernment, especially in marriage, through prayer and guidance from God.
He further called on Christians to support vocations, highlighting the growing need for clergy. He noted that in Uganda, one priest serves more than 3,000 Christians, underscoring the importance of prayer and support for those responding to God’s call.
Fr. Ndagijimana urged believers to choose Christ in all aspects of life, emphasizing that true fulfillment comes from aligning one’s decisions with God’s will.
