KABALE – On Sunday, October 29, 2023, the Kigezi Homeboys Football Club in Kabale District defeated Onduparaka Football Club (1-0) in a nail-biting match held at Kabale Municipal Stadium in Kabale Municipality.
Joseph Seremba secured the winning goal for Kigezi Homeboys FC in the 67th minute of the second half, clinching three crucial points for the hosts in the ongoing FUFA Big League. This marked the team’s second triumph in six matches, the first being a 3-0 victory over Kyetume Football Club at Kabale Municipal Stadium.
Following their latest win against Onduparaka, Kigezi Homeboys Football Club ascended to the 7th position on the FUFA Big League table, boasting seven points from six matches.
The match left Onduparaka players speechless, utterly disappointed, and defeated, with frustration directed at the center referee and lineswoman whom they accused of favoring the host team.
Denis Tushabe, the Coach for Kigezi Homeboys FC, dismissed the blame placed on the referees by the opponents, stating that a poor workman always blames his tools. Tushabe asserted that the opponents’ complaints were merely excuses and that, if anything, they were fortunate not to lose by a wider margin.
Tushabe emphasized that the players executed the game plan flawlessly, showcasing commendable skills and deserving the hard-earned victory. He expressed optimism that if the players maintain this level of performance, the team will continue to accumulate points and secure a favorable position in the league.
