DRC – The coalition forces operating in the Democratic Republic of Congo perpetrated today morning looted and kidnapped 12 people in Katshiru, Rutshuru territory.
The victims, comprising traders and drivers, fell prey to this wave of violence.
Since Sunday, January 21, 2024, the coalition forces associated with the Kinshasa regime, including the FARDC, FDLR, mercenaries, militia, the National Defense Forces of Burundi, and the SADC forces, have launched extensive attacks against civilian populations in Mpati, Karuba, Kibumba, and their neighboring areas.
The onslaught involves the use of heavy artillery and drones, causing widespread fear and suffering among the affected communities.
According to Lawrence Kanyuka, the Head of the Department of Communication and Media and spokesperson for the March 23 Movement, 12 individuals were abducted this morning at 9:45 AM.
Kanyuka disclosed that the victims were en route from Butembo to Goma via Katshiru.
In a grim update, Kanyuka reported that the coalition forces had targeted densely populated areas in Mweso and its environs the previous day. Utilizing heavy artillery and drones, they claimed the life of one person, injured three others, and destroyed a residence.
Kanyuka expressed concern that, having faced setbacks on the battlefield, the coalition forces have resorted to terrorizing civilian populations through indiscriminate bombings.
Highlighting the gravity of the situation, Kanyuka emphasized the determination of the M23 to bring an end to what he described as a “demonic regime” in Kinshasa.
He called upon various segments of society, including youth, politicians, civil societies, businesswomen/men, and armed groups, to unite under the banner of the AFC (Assistance for a Free Congo) and work towards building a New Congo free from the grips of violence and oppression.
