KAMPALA – Despite the division within the Forum For Democratic Change Party, a total of 77 candidates have successfully secured official nominations to vie for various positions within the Party’s National Executive Committee.
The Party’s Chief Electoral Commissioner, Honorable Toterebuka Bamwenda, confirmed that the nomination process for all party members aspiring to compete for different roles on the National Executive Committee (NEC) was successfully completed yesterday.
Addressing the candidates at the conclusion of the nomination day, Hon. Toterebuka Bamwenda expressed gratitude to all those who had stepped forward to seek leadership roles within the party.
Hon. Toterebuka conveyed that the candidates are now at liberty to kickstart their campaigns and engage with delegates across the nation.
He further disclosed that the elections for the National Executive Committee (NEC) are scheduled to occur on October 6, 2023.
Among the duly nominated candidates, are the incumbent candidates that include Patrick Amuriat, the Party President, and Nandala Mafabi, the Secretary-General, both of whom were previously suspended by the Katonga Faction. Jack Sabiiti has also been nominated as an aspiring Party chairman.
Following the nominations, Amuriat made a resolute statement, asserting that he is here to stay as a leader of the party.
